MADE – Engineering

2019 Autonomous Urban Vehicle Design and Development Competition:

We wish to thank Dr. Ali Raza (UET-Lahore), Dr. Salim Abid Tabassum (MADE Engineering), Worthy Vice Chancellor UET-Lahore Dr. Aziz Akbar and most importantly Allah (swt) upon successful completion of the final phase of MADE-UET joint event. The teams were provided with the base, motors, motor-drivers, sonars and Arduino boards to enable their 3D-printed urban-vehicle models move in an arena. The arena was configured to have a starting location and an opening on the other side, alongside the obstacles in the middle. Two teams were able to navigate through the arena and exit at the other end.

Prior to that, in phase-2, we had a pitfall when the models were found to be bigger that the wind-tunnel’s capacity. But to overcome this, we analyzed the models using ANSYS to simulate and compute the maximum drag and lift, using the same testing parameters.
During all the phases, Mr Ahmad Naveed Assistant Professor Mechanical Engineering Department helped us all the way. I must thank him for his continuous contributions.

Worthy Vice Chancellor UET-Lahore Dr. Aziz Akbar distributed prize money and certificates among the winners and participants of MADE-UET Lahore competition and wished them best of luck for their future endeavors.

Phase-3 for MADE-UET Lahore Autonomous Urban Vehicle Design and Development Competition was held in which the participants programmed their custom-built robots for “Wall Following” and “Obstacle Avoidance”. Worthy Vice Chancellor Dr. Aziz Akbar observed the competition and appreciated the efforts of participants.

During Phase-2 for Autonomous Urban Vehicle Design and Development Competition the models fabricated by participants were analyzed using fluid testing and flow simulation software.
